At the prestigious Watches and Wonders 2025 fair in Geneva, Rolex and Patek Philippe unveiled remarkable timepieces that blend innovation with tradition, captivating enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Rolex’s Groundbreaking Releases
Rolex introduced the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller, marking its first new sport model in over a decade. This timepiece draws inspiration from the vintage Oysterquartz, featuring an angular case and an integrated flat Jubilee bracelet. Equipped with the new high-frequency caliber 7135 movement and the innovative “Dynapulse” escapement, the Land-Dweller offers enhanced accuracy and durability. Available in platinum, rose gold, and “white Rolesor” (a combination of stainless steel and white gold), it comes in both 36mm and 40mm sizes, catering to diverse preferences.
In addition to the Land-Dweller, Rolex expanded its GMT-Master II collection by introducing a model with a tiger iron dial, a first for the brand. This 18 ct rose gold timepiece features a Cerachrom bezel insert in brown and black, harmonizing with the dial’s hue. The watch maintains the GMT-Master II’s renowned functionality, allowing wearers to track multiple time zones effortlessly.
Rolex also unveiled new pastel-colored dials for the Oyster Perpetual line, offering muted lavender, warm sandy beige, and fresh pistachio green options. These vibrant yet understated hues celebrate the meeting of pastel shades with a smooth, matte finish, adding a contemporary touch to the classic design.
Patek Philippe’s Exquisite Novelties
Patek Philippe captivated audiences with the introduction of the Calatrava reference 6196P-001. This 38mm platinum timepiece pays homage to the brand’s minimalist elegance, featuring an opaline rose-gilt (salmon) dial with applied white gold faceted hour indices and a small-seconds indicator. Powered by the hand-wound Calibre 30-255 PS movement, it boasts a 65-hour power reserve. Paired with a chocolate-brown alligator strap, this watch epitomizes timeless sophistication.
Expanding its offerings for women, Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus models 7010G and 7010/1G. These timepieces feature a new azure-blue lacquered dial, enhancing the collection’s sport-chic elegance. The watches maintain the iconic design elements of the Twenty~4 series, including the rectangular case and diamond-set bezel, appealing to modern women seeking both style and functionality.
Furthermore, Patek Philippe presented the Cubitus collection, its first new line in 25 years. Characterized by a sporty-chic design with an integrated bracelet and a quadrangular case, the Cubitus offers a fresh aesthetic distinct from the renowned Nautilus. Initially launched in 2024, the collection has been expanded to include models in white gold and rose gold, reflecting the brand’s commitment to innovation while honoring its heritage.
